Hockanum Valley Community Council, Inc. (HVCC) is a private nonprofit human services agency located in Vernon, Connecticut. HVCC is dedicated to meeting the needs of the residents of Hartford, Tolland, and Windham County areas.
Our mission is to provide services to individuals and families in a manner which will promote independence while ensuring that basic needs are met regardless of ability to pay.
For over 50 years HVCC has been entrusted to provide social services and basic needs to our community. HVCC employs a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to provide quality programming, treatment, and services to over 3,000 families a year.
Our vision is a future where we can reduce the number of Connecticut residents struggling with food insecurity, substance abuse, mental health issues, and basic human needs.
Impact based programing tailored to the needs of our community
Over the last five decades, HVCC has provided Dial-a-Ride Transportation to the elderly and disabled, mental health and substance abuse counseling, and basic needs support to those who are suffering from food insecurity, homelessness, or other community crises.

Our administrative team is the backbone of our agency but sometimes even they need a little help! Scan documents, assist with mailings or answering phones.

Jump into the hustle and bustle! Our Food Pantry is a client facing service that helps over 200 families per week. Stock the shelves, check clients in or help with shopping. This role will keep you busy and feeling fulfilled!

Help create independence with ridership! Join our team of volunteer drivers. In collaboration with our Transportation Department, you will help us connect individuals with their destinations.
